How to manage Hindrances in meditation? What actually is equanimity?

This 2012 talk tells us about the Hindrances as teachers  who help us practice abandonment!
WE visit MN-19 Dvedhavitakka Sutta where the Buddha tells his monks what he discovered before he was enlightened about investigating wholesome and unwholesome mind-states.

1.  Which is better, wholesome or unwholesome states; tension or no tension in life?
2. How can we abandon unwholesome states?
3. The Buddha explains to Rahula that we meditate  like the element of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water without becoming disturbed.
4. Buddha explains to Rahula why he why should practice Metta, Karuna, Mudita, and Upekkha/ Loving KIndness, Compassion, Joy, and Equanimity.
5. Sister describes a time when Equanimity was present during  a dangerous driving experience. Equanimity has  MIndfulness- Indifference has no mindfulness.
6. Yasodra  was mentioned as the mother of the Buddha in this tape, but actually, Queen Maya Maya, his Aunt raised him as a surrogate mother after his mother's death.
